Introduction and Company History
Fisher-Wallace Laboratories is the culmination of events set in motion when Martin Wallace and Chip Fisher found a product that truly meets a vastly important need; the non-drug treatment of anxiety, depression and insomnia.
Wallace learned of what was then called the LISS Cranial Stimulator in late 2001, when a friend introduced him to Dr. Saul Liss. At that juncture, Wallace—despite his PhD in biology and his credentials in treating addictions and other compulsive behaviors—had been unable to find any means for coping with the deep incapacitating depression that brought him to a standstill in the aftermath of 9/11 and the 8 hours he had spent at Ground Zero. Dr. Liss offered Wallace the use of a Cranial Stimulator—and changed his life. Using this device rescued him.
Wallace eventually began working with Saul Liss, helping him to improve the machine’s design and gaining useful feedback on it from physicians whose practices he equips with nutritional resources.
Fisher—an entrepreneur who combines practicality and vision—learned about Dr. Saul Liss and his Cranial Stimulator when he met Wallace at a gathering. His own holistic health care perspective enabled him to appreciate Wallace’s experiences, and he subsequently observed the Cranial Stimulator’s benefits for depression at close hand after suggesting it to several family members and close friends who were struggling with the inadequate efficacy and impairing side effects of anti-depressive drugs. Fisher was particularly impressed by the Cranial Stimulator’s gentle nature, lack of side effects, and ability to stimulate the brain’s natural processes. In the meantime, he and Saul Liss met and discovered a mutual rapport. And Fisher-Wallace Laboratories was born.
The Cranial Stimulator came with FDA permission for marketing to people suffering from anxiety, insomnia, and/or depression. And Fisher-Wallace Laboratories received ownership of the patents for each of the biologically active micro-current frequencies which—when combined for transcranial stimulation—increase the ability of neural cells in the brain to produce serotonin and other neurotransmitters needed to normalize mood and sleep, and lower the multiply-harmful cortisol levels that result during long-term stress.
Saul Liss passed away in Spring, 2006. Fisher-Wallace Laboratories continues his unique work. The company manufactures and markets the Cranial Stimulator, ensuring its availability for those who need it. Wallace is attempting to gain a better understanding of the underlying neurologic basis of its effects, and is in the process of laying plans for a significant new study with participation by a major university and medical school. Fisher-Wallace Laboratories is also working to improve awareness of cranial electrotherapy stimulation within the medical community.
